This morning – Alexa did not wake me up in Butte – but Aurora did. I think another dog walked by the campsite around 6 a.m. – so I was awakened this morning with a dog barking instead of the soothing sounds of Amazon Alexa.
After a breakfast of a bagel, yogurt and fruit (and coffee of course) – we got on the road around 9 a.m.
In case you did not realize it – Montana is a BIG state.
I drove 515 miles today – of which about 490 were exclusively in Montana.
We started this morning in Butte – and ended the day in the great state of North Dakota! Tonight we are staying at the Medora Campground in Medora, ND – which is a stones throw away from the entrance to Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

Everyone has a different philosophy on RV travel. Some folks will only drive 4 or so hours every day – however – they are also generally fully retired and can take a more leisurely pace.
When we have chosen camping destinations significantly outside of the PNW – we tend to spend a couple of days driving longer days with the idea we can then spend more time at our destinations. That same idea applies for this trip – which translates into 1000 miles over the first two days.
We (Aurora and I) do try and stop every 2 hours or so to get out and walk around.
So we enjoyed several stops at rest stops in Montana today – including one with a warning about watching for Rattlesnakes.

Once we passed Billings, Montana – there is not much in terms of population in Eastern Montana. We did get diesel fuel and do a dog walk area in Terry, Montana – there are a lot of cool little small towns in the west.
Tomorrow will be quite a bit shorter (about 330 miles) – and we will have some time for a stopover and some wildlife photography at Theodore Roosevelt National Park in the morning.
