Lake Chelan Trip I

Lake Chelan (Washington)

We pulled out of the Tri-Cities a bit after lunch time on Friday and pointed the Atlas north towards Lake Chelan. This is our first camping trip of the 2025 camping season – and Noel and I enjoyed a stress-free drive through rural Washington.

Several years ago we camped at Lake Chelan State Park – and as we were driving through the downtown Chelan area – we saw a nice looking RV park that was basically in downtown right on the water. When I put together our camping schedule for this year I scored a reservation at Lakeshore RV Park right on Lake Chelan. This RV park is run and managed by the City of Chelan – with lots of trees and level full-hook up camping spots. It has large grassy areas – so plenty of great spots for Aurora to roam around in (on her leash of course!)

We also used our new “RV Superbag” for the first time – this is like a large king size sleeping bag with sheets that Velcro in. It was awesome and we highly recommend it. One side of the Superbag has a “winter” thickness and one side has a “summer” thickness – so by flipping the bag over you can accommodate either cold or warm weather. It was great not fighting with the sheets in the middle of the night!

Like many of our first time camping trips – we forgot a few items – like dish soap and toothbrushes. I guess our priorities were a bit misplaced as we had everything we needed for gin and tonics but were missing a few personal hygiene items! We did use shower gel to wash dishes for last nights dinner and breakfast this morning – and the dishes smelled great! A quick trip to the nearby Safeway will take care of these items this morning.

First Breakfast

This morning we had one of my camping breakfast favorites – Blueberry Scones – fixed in a skillet. These are easy to do and do not take long to fix – and it was nice to have them for a leisurely breakfast at our campsite as we were waking up. I also fresh ground my coffee this morning – so we were definitely in full glamping mode!

Today we plan to visit some wineries, spend time at some of the shops in downtown Chelan, and enjoy dinner outside at the campsite.
